In-Person Screenings FAQs
Who can host a screening?
Just about any community group, non-profit organization, cultural institution or business can host a screening. (For educational institutions, click here for special pricing.) Your purchase includes a Public Performance License allowing for a single screening of the film at a venue of your choice – a community center, cultural institution, library, or office, for example. In short, any non-commercial theatrical setting.
How do I purchase?
Order directly from our website. Choose the appropriate category – Non-Profit Organizations, Government Agencies, or Businesses and Professional Firms -- and click Order Now. You will be taken to our secure check-out page. For purchase orders or wire transfers, email us at sales@FullExposureFilms.com
What happens next?
We will send you a DVD of The Lavender Scare to show at your event. You will also receive our Screening and Discussion Guide, which will walk you through the process of setting up your screening, and our Promotional Tool Kit, with high resolution still pictures, short video clips, artwork for posters, and other elements to help publicize your event.
Why do I need a Public Performance License or a Digital Site License?
The Federal Copyright Act governs how copyrighted materials such as movies may be used. To show a film anywhere outside of your home (including schools, community centers, public libraries, houses of worship, private clubs, etc.), you must purchase and own a Public Performance License from the copyright holder. This legal requirement applies regardless of whether the institution or organization is commercial, nonprofit, educational, or a government agency.
May I charge admission?
The Public Performance License covers events at which no admission fee is charged. If you would like to charge admission or use The Lavender Scare to raise money for your organization, we can help with that! Email us at sales@FullExposureFilms.com

.
What happens next?
Once we receive your order, we will be back in touch with you within 48 hours (usually much sooner!) to find out when you would like to schedule your event. We will then set up your screening site, personalized any way you wish, and provide you with a password to distribute to your viewers. You can see samples of our screening sites here.
Who can we invite?
You can invite as many members of your organization or business as you wish. But keep in mind the maximum number of viewers for screenings purchased through our website is 1,000. For larger audiences, or if you would like to host the event on your own secure server, email us at sales@FullExposureFilms.com and we'll provide you with a custom quote.
What counts as a “view”?
We only count complete views. If someone watches half the film one day and then comes back to watch the second half the next day, it will count as just one view. The film can be paused or watched in sections and it will still count as just one view.
What happens if we exceed the maximum number of views?
No worries. We’ll keep track of the number of times the film has been viewed, and we’ll let you know if you’re getting close to your limit. If you are, you’ll have an opportunity to add additional views. We’ll never terminate your screening without checking with you first.
Can we use a “screen share” application to watch the film?
No, the feed from our server cannot be copied, saved, projected, or re-transmitted in any way. It is intended to be watched directly from the web address we provide to you. It can be viewed in what would normally be considered a “private” setting, such as a home or office. It can be watched on a computer monitor, a mobile device, or a TV.
Can I charge admission or use the screening as a fundraiser?
No. The license does not permit fundraisers and your viewers must not be charged to watch the film. If you would like to use the film for a fundraising event, please contact us at sales@FullExposureFilms.com.
What else comes with my purchase?
In addition to on-line access to The Lavender Scare for the time period you've requested, you will also receive access to our Promotional Tool Kit, to help you spread the word about your event, as well as a Screening and Discussion Guide with tips to ensure the success of your event.
